Abrigo Executive Speaks About the Future of Data and Technology in Modern Banking

Abrigo Chief Technology Officer Ravikumar Nemalikanti came home to his alma mater at the University Chicago Booth Business School, to deliver a well-received talk on banking, data, and technology hosted by Banking Exchange.

In front of a classroom of bankers from institutions such as Wintrust, BNY, Synchrony, and BMO on the afternoon of November 7, Nemalikanti spoke on how important data and AI will be in the development of the banking industry.

He told the audience, “Data is the heartbeat of modern banking, but its true value is realized only when disparate sources are connected and harmonized. This integration is essential for understanding customer needs, mitigating risks, and staying competitive in a rapidly evolving financial ecosystem. Bankers need dynamic, real-time insights—pit views that empower them to make crucial decisions instantly, not days or weeks later.”

Nemalikanti struck and optimistic tone for banks of all sizes. He stated, “The convergence of AI, Generative AI, and connected data sources presents an unprecedented opportunity for banks. By integrating legacy systems, structured data, and unstructured information, financial institutions can leverage AI to unlock insights that drive innovation and growth. McKinsey estimates GenAI could deliver up to $340 billion in added value across financial services, proving that data-driven intelligence isn’t just a strategy—it's the future of banking.”

Banking Exchange will host two events in the spring of 2025 at the Chicago Booth Business School at the Gleacher Center: one in April that will be focused on the broader banking industry, and one in June focused on regional and community banks.
